The face of a young Calgary beauty is now the face of the nation.

At a glamorous ceremony in Toronto this weekend, Miss Calgary Alberta Alesia Fieldberg upgraded her crown for one of the national variety when she was named Miss Canada International 2008.

"It's exciting but exhausting," said Fieldberg, who arrived back in Calgary last night.

"It's been a week of a lot of early mornings and very late nights."

Despite the harsh schedule and the stress from the week-long endeavour that culminated with her winning the crown Saturday, Fieldberg deplaned at the Calgary International Airport poised and perfectly dressed in sash and tiara.

Unlike other pageants, which revolve around beauty alone, the Miss Canada International title is based more on communications skills, personality and community involvement.
