Click on the images for the larger version. Our first Land Rover was a 1964 Series IIA 88" wheelbase station wagon. It was purchased in Timmins, Ontario and towed home on a dolly 600km. After about 5 years of ownership it was sold to the local mechanic as a plow truck. It was never made road legal here in Ontario but provided us with a unique farm vehicle, and aside from engine smoke and electrical fires it was a reliable work horse. The second Series or should I say "Eore", is a 1974 Series III 88". Eore was purchased in California and once did duty there on a mine in the north. Since then it has visited Mexico, Colorado, Utah and just about everywhere in between. After some "teething" problems were worked out Eore has become a staple in the garage as well as a favorite for long camping trips. If you haven't been off-road in a Series you are missing out on the whole Land Rover experience. Click HERE, or at the top of the page, to spend a day in the life of EORE........ Eore has provided us with a lot of "tutoring" in Land Rover maintenance and repair. Since the day it graced the garage it has had a rebuilt Turner 2.25 engine installed, a rebuilt Rovers North 4-speed transmission installed and numerous other items replaced. Hank had the whole rear diff on the work bench after shearing a half-shaft. Needless to say their have been many swollen knuckles, grease covered hands and other injuries. Check out the carnage below: With the front wings removed, it's just a couple of bolts, some hoses and out came the tired 2.25. The Turner motor is significantly improved over the original motor and is visually identical. Then their was the tranny: With the floor boards and the seats of the truck out, then the roof, the tranny just "falls into place" according to Hank.
